Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, strategy, and a patroness of the arts. It is said that she sprang fully formed and armored from the head of Zeus, though she was actually conceived by Metis, goddess of wisdom. Athena is the patron goddess of fine crafts, specifically weaving, and is the tyche (ruling goddess and personification) of the city of Athens.
