The Pythia Calls

The Pythia Calls

In September of 2021, I went on pilgrimage to Greece with my friend, sister, mentor, and colleague Priestess Yeshe Matthews. It changed my life.

I had known magic in my life, I had witnessed it, understood it, even experienced it. But on this trip, I FELT MAGIC. In my blood, in my bones, in my embodied self. There is something so profound about traveling to holy places together in sisterhood, something truly inexplicable. You simply have to experience it. Touching ground in places of sacred lineage and history, holding space for each other as our hearts and spirits receive this magic is a precious gift. My memories of that trip are still as vivid as the days we walked through temple ruins under blazing sun, were drenched in torrential cleansing rainstorms, and felt the powerful presence of the gods alive in their ancient dwelling places.

Yeshe and I began a spiritual journey together in 2020 when we launched the Via Carmen Pythia, a two year training in the ancient Sibylline arts. Our plan was to design a pilgrimage to Delphi home to the famed oracular priestess known as the Pythia as the culmination of the course. Despite all odds and in the middle of a global pandemic, we embarked on this amazing adventure. It was everything we’d hoped and more, but the really surprising thing?

It was deeply healing in a world that had been shattered.

We traveled to Athens where we visited the Acropolis and the Agora, temples to the Olympian gods, crystalizing all we learned and experienced at the Museum of Athens. From there we ventured to Elefsina, the famed temple complex of Eleusis where the mysteries of Persephone and Demeter were enacted each year. The pinnacle of this pilgrimage was in Delphi, where the Pythia priestess gave her sacred oracles at the Temple of Apollo. Delphi is utterly awe-inspiring, but hidden gems of ancient magic are to be found all over Greece and the Mediterranean. In 2022 I returned with Yeshe to Greece on pilgrimage, and discovered even more Magic…in the land, and in myself.

Making this pilgrimage sparked something in me I didn’t know existed. Discovery, inspiration, divination…participation in an ancient lineage of Magic. It was a grand unveiling of possibility. It was a sacred activation.

This fall, we are returning again to this land of Mystery and Magic in our annual Pythia Pilgrimage with the Mount Shasta Goddess Temple.

Is the Pythia herself calling you to join us?
